The word Psychometry comes from the Greek word “psyche”, which means soul, and “metron”, meaning measure. It is the ability of a person to hold or touch an object and receive information about that object, and the person to whom it belongs.
Information may include the object’s history or how it came to the person currently in possession. You may also receive information regarding the energy of the owner. Psychics and Intuitives are able to pick up impressions, thoughts, emotions, and even events that relate to the owner.
I have recently been honing my skills in psychometry. I found that holding the object of a person who is passed on can also help me connect to that person in spirit, and this has helped me in medium readings.
Here is a Psychometry reading I recently did.
I was handed a bracelet and began immediately receiving impressions, which I wrote down, as they came. I felt the owner was a woman, who dressed stylishly, loved animal prints, wore lots of black and was taller than average, and slender. I saw her wearing sunglasses, and driving across county. I felt she had perhaps been in a car accident and that she had digestive problems. I felt a European influence, maybe a trip? I felt this bracelet had been in the family, passed down, and heard the words “you got it”.
After sharing my impressions, my client confirmed that this was her grandmother’s bracelet, her grandmother was from Europe. She herself loved to wear animal prints, has chronic digestive difficulties, loves road trips and had been in a car accident.
If you want to try out psychometry, ask a friend to for an object that you know nothing about, preferably something that they have worn, or felt strongly about. Better yet, if you have a friend that can give you an object that belonged to someone you don’t know, like someone in their family whom you don’t know anything about!
Hold it in your hand, I prefer the left hand, as that is our “receiving” hand. Close you eyes, and simply ask for information. When you are first starting, it is easiest to just write down any impressions, visuals, or feelings you get. In order to do this, you need to stay out of judgment about what you are receiving, just go with whatever comes. It really does not have to make any sense to you at all. If it is accurate information, it will make sense to the person for whom you are reading.
About 10 minutes, sitting still with no distractions, is a good amount of time to start with. Just ask to be open, make space inside yourself to receive, and begin writing anything that comes to mind. Afterwards, you can check your accuracy with the person who gave it to you. Have fun!
